We've been reading some good material in class. This week it was The Victorian Internet by Tom Standage.
One idea that stuck out was how silly that all of these men/inventors were working alone while they had the same problem (p. 32.) They had a common goal/purpose yet were working independently and it wasn't until they partnered up that their ideas became realities.
This idea is something we've discussed in class as well. It has really made me see that it's crucial to work alongside other teachers/staff & especially when one is trying to "change the tool." In order to build "purpose" in our schools and assess what the "community needs" collaboration in crucial. In terms of my DESIGN, I know that what I will accomplish with 2, 3, or 14 heads will be better/happen faster than any design/project I devise alone.
This is why I'm considering opening my Design Blog up to my peers in the ITS program. I'll be happy to have their feedback as well as that of my professors.
Wow! What a powerful design insight! You have learned a very important lesson . . . design can be a team activity. The trick is to build "teams" that share awareness of similar principles and processes . . . when the design team works with the same language of thinking, the same guides, the same understanding of goals, it can be team with designs that are hugely influential!
