Video Lesson

I'm blogging now as a way to brainstorm possible ideas for my video lesson plan.

Right now my K class is learning about 7 continents (Japan and Kenya specifically) and later we'll talk about basic Economics.

Authentic Problem & Video Lesson Possibilities..............

Japan
- Your class is invited to enter a contest to win a trip to the Japanese Embassy for a traditoinal Japanese Tea Ceremony. Before going you will need to practice what to do and say during the ceremony. Your class must also send in a videotape explaining what you've learned so far about Japan. The Embassy will choose one lucky class to come drink tea and talk with the Ambassador.

Economics (terms: product, producer, consumer)
- Three stores want you to make their next commercial about their products. You need to draw in your consumers. A hot item now are the silly band bracelets. Each group will be assigned a store (producer) - Giant, Petco & Target. Then they will browze/search the store's on-line database. They can choose one Product from their assigned store. Student groups will first draw advertisements for the product. Then they will make a commercial TV advertisement. We will watch several commercials beforehand and talk about ways producers draw in their consumers.

What should I do for my video lesson? advice..?

  1. I really like your Japan idea. What a great way to engage your students in both the Japanese culture and the video technology. How cool would it be to actually contact the embassy to see if they can provide you with any interesting items while you teach the content? Maybe someone from the embassy could come to your class and talk to your kids!? FUN!! :)

PS - Love your profile pic. :)
