It was nice to learn how to edit video on Windows Movie Maker. I've tried using a much more complicated software called Corel Video Studio. Glad to know a MUCH MUCH simpler way.
I like the idea of text overlay, adding an intro and maybe an outro, adding music, and maybe the chroma-key feature. Chroma key allows a student to be in front of his/her own artwork or a jpeg from the internet. When you tape them, they are standing in front of a green screen. It's also called green screen recording.
Take a look at this Alaskan girl's re-telling of a traditional native American myth. She speaks in her language for some of it, which caught my attention as an ELL teacher.
Her digital story, Fox Becomes a Better Person, must have been edited with a software like Corel Video Studio 12. Nothing like seeing a child's artwork behind their story. Lot of potential for the English/Writing classroom...
